1963 Bill and I bought wood (44 pieces of 1x8 redwood for $8.82) and put up the walls on the clubhouse. He rode over and had a look at our new place - we roasted hot dogs. Rode our bikes back to Richfield and put the roof on including tarred roof tiles. Then to the Hub to buy screening, paint and a trouble light at Warner's. We drilled a hole into the eave and blew a fuse when we put the light in.
Peg-leg Bill
1972 QVS is a voting station, so I went down to check out democracy in action. A big tanoa outside the classroom. I had three bilos.
1985 M - Bus into Sacramento. Two teenage boys, late for school, talking about the marijauna parents had left one of them as a gift. They needed zig-zag, so they asked some girls on the bus who happened to have some. Organized a Hertz rental then walked through the Capitol Mall and had a picnic lunch under one of the giant specimen trees from all over the world, including several from NZ. Old Sacramento where we went into many shops. Bought Kiwi jam, coasters with ducks on them and we saw "Cathedral" (made by Mike Sanders). We had shaved ice (guava, bubblegum and cinnamon flavors). So much to see. Picked up a Ford Escort. Back to Hoffsis for lasagne with a Gallo Chablis. Looked at our Fiji slides and Jim's slides from around the States.

Pony Express
1990 Karioitahi with Matthew and Tracy. Only four others in - we were in about 30 minutes and I had some great rides. Whites' for some bridge on the front porch - Ian and I won a rubber in four hands. Tui spending the weekend there and we were joined by the Kaitanis and Mitchells. Men walked down to look at the Jane Gifford (skow). Met Saki (QVS old boy, RKS teacher and Waiuku College deputy).
1995 Ian dropped off Matthew and Jackie. Te Whares dropped off Jason. Ellerslie and it took me a few times around the area to find entrance to race track. Was the wrong one and the girl there didn't know anything about golf. Over to other entrance and a long walk to the center field (could have driven right to it). A nice new course. Gail and I tied on 46, Jason and Ne at 48. Ian, Granny and Susi over for supper. Charades outdoors. In for dessert and Pictionary.

Granny
2002 THE call from Gail, so rushed out to pick her up at the shuttle depot and then over to the hospital for the emotional "Mother and Daughter Reunion". Nurses thought she was one Joyce's sisters.
2004 Orewa for lunch on the beach. Opononi to arrive at Margaret Wills bach (on the beach) getting there only minutes after Whites who had left at 7AM, but did stop several times as Steve's back is out from helping his dad try to locate leak in roof back home. Fellow at Lighthouse Motel next door gave Susi six snapper that he had just caught and gutted!!! After supper played some games with kids then it was bridge until 10:30PM. Gail, Susi and Kelcie slept in the garage sleepout and I was in the van.

2019 M - David, Annette with a tall James (off to police academy) came to Tauranga just to visit us. Surprized them with a cake for their birthdays.
2021 Th - I walked around Coronation Park which has a small man-made brook. Peter, across the road, had a stroke yesterday.
2023 Su - Photos of Gene's artwork from Newsy. Photos of Barcelona from Fab. Headed out at 12:45PM. Gave Russell some feijoas, a golf tee and $AU4 for his trip with his grandaughters. Was very windy which affected kicks. But it was the biased referee who kept the Cowboys in the game. Nevertheless, Warriors won 22 - 14 (highlights). 23695 in stadium making it a lively experience. A trio of islanders sang 5 songs at half time. Russell gave me a tiki tour of new development in Te Kauwhata (in the dark!!!!). Easy drive home, but USBs screwed up. Listened to the Twins beat Yankees for two in a row.
