1967 | Picked Steve up at work (had top down for second time this year). Steve and I wore suits and acted like hoods as we go to see "Farenheit 451". We really frightened a little kid.
1973 | Letter to Heasley. Anare and a friend, Mark, came to buy stereo gear. I took them for a walk around Papakura. Saw badminton at the Y and croquet being played next door. Both firsts for Anare. Gurmit and Forsmans stopped by while we were out. Had a snack and played dominoes. Bruce, Jill and Kirstin came at 6PM about the same time as Anare's ride. Had supper and played 500 until 11PM.
1977 | Th - Saw "Little Big Man" and "Paper Tiger" with Aldersons and 9 other people at Papakura theater, Star Cinecentre (Ed. - eventually torn down being replaced by a two level toy store, then a children's store (Tiny Tots), then a plastics shop. Lamorna babysat and when we got home at midnight the kids were still up.
1985 | Looked over Ian's overgrown plantation. He showed us the swimming pool he escavated out of the soapstone - never really held the water. Checked out a giant vesi tree with its many, large external roots. Stopped at Korovou to visit Emili, Lusi's sister, and her Indian husband, John. They manage the Korovou Hotel. Had a drink and then back to Sowane. | kitchen |
1989 | Gave Margaret S. a bag of Minties - secretaries' day. Company gave every employee a NZ apple. Someone took my chair yesterday so I stood the whole day.
1997 | M - Ve upset because Dawn won't let her wear pants and she must wear the school uniform. We were pleasantly surprised when Ve gave us $150 (and will continue to do so each week). We didn't expect to be paid.
2007 | We brought David to the airport in my new car (his old one). Met there by the entire White clan and Brad. Spent about an hour chatting until time for the tearful goodbyes. Ian and Susi came over for bridge with a little Jacob's Creek '05 shiraz.
2008 | Gail, David and I went to Waitomo, where we did the Ruakuri Cave tour with our guide, Steve. Nice close up with the glowworms. From there we drove west on the "Scenic route" to check out Marokopa Falls which was impressive, considering the lack of rain for the past few months. On the way home we stopped at Grangers in Te Kawhia to get carrots and ran across a couple new Maori words: wenoweno (marrow or pumpkin tendril) and kamokamo (marrow). |
|
2013 | Su - Went to Kaiate Falls (last visit was in 1992 when the steps were brand new). At least four falls can be viewed and Ian counted 216 steps on the way up. Played Alhambra after a shrimp curry supper. Found the 12 yr Glenmorangie smoother than the original.
2014 | M - Sent email to Ian with photo, threatening to go viral with it. Yardwork. Got skunked. Did a detailed story of today: read.
2015 | T - Tim fixed a tooth ($350).
2016 | Th - Met Mah Jong player, Lorna, when I asked her to move her car so I could go to Farm St where the nurse weighed me, measured my belly and blood pressure, gave me a B12 and took blood for diabetes. Then I hit Dr K who told me my T4 and T5 are compressed causing front parts to scrape causing pain - but no operation yet. At Countdown a bozo, Nichole, put items into plastic bags before putting them into my own bag, defeating its whole purpose.
2018 | Sa - Irene stopped in (babysitting Paul's grandsons) for a visit. She went to Sydney with Judy and Ben to see Baby Mammoth.
