1963 Phone duty at school - meant I got out of classes, sat in the office and ran messages. Serious Brother Daniel even joked with me in there.
1978 Helped move Mike's shop (five loads of lumber) to Manurewa with John Lynch and Ian B. Had supper at Sanders with a terrible Glenvale Riesling.
1979 Su - Helped Mike put in the archway between his kitchen and lounge, then we put gibboard onto walls. [ed. - photo was taken 1997; no change and the gib had really yellowed]
1981 W - WCCO called Muldoon the Prime Minister of Australia and quoted him as saying "working breakfasts" are an abomination - just look at Carter.
1982 Th - Bought a 1942 nickel from Lesser for 20¢. Rolling Stone for first time to farewell Doug. Great cheap food. Doug asked me: "What's the difference between a dog and an egg plant?" Me: "None, you can make curry out of both of them". Split Tom up. He got it from today's Garfield comic strip.
1984 Su - Drove to Mounds Park (checking route to hospital) and found actual "mounds" deemed to be Indian burial sites in origin. PHOTOS
1991 First fire in the Woodsman stove - real disappointed with the smoke smell in the room - worse than the fireplace had been.
1996 M - Went to the heads with Whites and Sturton. Ran into Grace who taught at Red Hill '88-'89 with Gail. Went to the sand dunes, where the lighthouse had been. After lunch we went to Grahams Beach where we played jarts and boulles. Back to Whites for coffee. Ian and Patsy (Fijian) Hendry's for a barbecue. Met Glen Thompson, a Canadian who also taught at Red Hill with Gail. He is married to a Rotuman, Tausie's cousin. Glen works at mill now and is full of many interesting and funny stories. I got stuck into a very good Wyndham '93 cab sav.

2001 Karen and Paul's flying visit (over for his father's 80th). Both looking excellent - serious bike riders.
2004 Mike over for our first ever Rock 'n Roll evening and he won "Doug's Duck" by beating me at Trivial Pursuit while listening to Beatles CDs and sipping a 2002 Coromandel Pinot Noir by Mills Reef.
2007 Su - Joined Tony N at Needhams for Easter meal washed down with a Sacred Hill '06 Chardonnay.
2021 Th - Listened to the Twins - Tigers. Nelson Cruz missed a GS and then got one on next pitch (video). 50 minute walk to Bayfair. Biked to 34OC and did yardwork. AFL: Swans crushed Tigers 117 - 72. There were 9 posters or the score would have been even higher.
2023 Sa - 60 minute walk toward Concord. Found a pile of nails and screws by a kerb. Listened to the Twins beat Houston in 10 innings. Red cherry guavas now joining the feijoa harvest. Gym and pool (12). AFL: Hawks 80 - Roos 61. Switched from lightweight quilt to heavy duvet as the nights are getting colder.
2024 M - We have a mouse in the house. Bumper crop of feijoas - I reckon 5 times the usual thanks to all the spring rain. After years of changing locations, bus stops are being finalized with concrete footing, some with benches and some with shelters. Compiled Top 25 of 2000. Watched Dockers beat Crows 69 - 34 and then Bombers who trailed the whole game, but kicked the last goal of the match to edge out Saints 71 - 67.
