1964 | Registered at University of Minnesota. Put into orientation groups and had to introduce ourselves etc. Even though I lived in North Mpls I said I was from Golden Valley because a couple girls, Carole Johnson and Jeanne McCabe said that they were from there. We ended up spending the day together and I gave Jeanne a lift home.
1975 | Picked mom up at 4:30PM in Dawson, off the Greyhound bus with her "emergency haircut". Made meatloaf for supper. Short tour of Dawson and then we picked up Gail and David in Madison at 8:30PM, another Greyhound bus, this one from Luverne. We looked at all of our slides until 1AM while sipping a good Red Mountain rosé.
1977 | Aldersons and Kays over at 5:30PM for drinks and meal. Went to see "Man Who Fell to Earth" in Manurewa after Papakura Theatre didn't have "Pink Panther" as advertized.
1980 | W - Up at 6AM and into the fog at 6:30AM. Afraid car wouldn't start if we turned it off, so we drove straight thru for 17 hours the 708 miles from Indianapolis to Minneapolis. Stopped for gas in Illinois. Went through Moline, Davenport and Rock Island before heading north on 52. Some nice towns in Indiana, Illinois not impressive, but we really liked Iowa. Hit Rochester at 9PM and got refreshments at a very busy Dairy Queen. Then we headed into the biggest lightning display I have ever seen. Got home at 11:30PM. Mom was waiting for us. | Iowa |
1981 | Th - Lundholms over for a barbecue on their picnic table that I just bought the other day. Barbecued pork chops. They told us about Timber Lake, SD where they are off to live. | Dave & Linda |
1983 | Sa - Had lunch at Dad's and gave him a lawn spreader for his birthday. Went to Spring Lake Park miniature golf. Had good fun - Lavonne got a hole-in-one and Dad won a free game on final hole by doing the same. |

1988 | Went to Clarks where I was the official photographer for Sofi's 4th birthday. The kids came as kings or queens (video). Sandy's (grandmother) was a real live wire. Mike dressed up as a clown. There was a treasure hunt (video), some games, food and cake (video). Chatted with Leighton. Mike gave me an '85 French Bordeaux.
1995 | Fran came via bus at 5:30PM. We caught up - Julie and Brett had a son, Ben in July. Chris is now with an Angela. I brought her to Papatoetoe at 10PM.
1997 | W - Day 30 of our 3 month journey around the world. See 1997 Trip Photo Journal.
2002 | Up at 7:45AM so Joyce could get me to the depot by 8:30AM to sit until 9AM departure. We picked up a lady in PV who was on her way to Hawaii and the others had a lively conversation while I only contributed snores. Well, I'm sitting in my seat on the plane and this couple stops looks at me and says "20B and C" and I say "yes" and he says "we are in 20B and C" that's when it dawned on me that I should be in "21C". Pretty much slept through the flight, only awake to drink my cranberry-apple and consume a Walkers pure butter Shortbread and a bag of Spinzels "Braided Pretzels". My bags were the first off, but then it was a 30 minute wait outside for mom, Fritz and Bob. We were in heavy traffic on way home. Thing that struck me BIG TIME was that the sides along the highways have not been maintained, so instead of nice green there were weeds and small trees taking over. Seemed so out of place as all these new huge corporation buildings looking so ultra modern but surrounded by filth. Had drinks (Paul Masson Sauvignon Blanc) on the deck and I met neighbor Jill Akre (from New Ulm) and her black lab, Fisher. Set up in the basement. Whole house redone from studs and looks new and so different. And I have never been in a house that reeks so much from smoke, even down to the basement where I slept.
2012 | M - Aussies don't like that NZ is ahead of them at Olympics. The Top Ten list on TV was cut back to the Top Nine when we reached 10th (they are in 17th). The clipping is from an OZ newspaper.
2018 | M - Agreed to buy Heather's 2009 Mitsubishi Colt Plus for $7000.
2019 | T - Glen determined that the outdoor fuse for the hot water cylinder had blown. That only took minutes, then he spent 30 minutes telling me about hand gun system in NZ. He is NZ 9mm champ and is going to World Championship in Australia.
