1961 | High = 51°F. Walked to Portland to catch bus with Brevieu to school where we were parking lot attendants for the Mardi Gras dance. We were given cake, pop and $2. Dad gave us a lift home at 12:30AM.
1967 | Vikings held a press conference at Inn to announce that Van Brocklin quit. Recognized a "skipper" (person who leaves motel without paying) from last year. An effeminate colored fellow using a Duluth address again but "Mr. Brown" whereas last year he was "Mr. Green" told Gillette who called the cops. Turned out that he had just shot someone at Howard Johnson's, so police were staking out our place should he return. | ![]() HoJo |
1974 | Helped Simon move two crates and had a beer. No sugar in NZ!
1985 | M - Bluebirds Sweetheart Dinner. Tremendously funny magician, Foudini.
1986 | T - Gail and I drove to Auckland, parked at Civic, walked up Queen St to Powercorp where we met Andrew. Walked back down to Arabesque where we had an exoctic lunch with him and his wife Natalie.
1989 | Cabbie got super excited when Sanders arrived with Sam. Barbecue (video) eaten outside while sipping a wonderful Totara Chenin Blanc. Inside for a Babich Clasic Dry. No way Lia would eat a "pumpkin" pie even when we tried to sell it as "spice and cinnamon" pie.
1990 | Brought the Whites to Maraetai for their first time. Stopped at Duders so Susi could look for pipis. Canoe and paddle boat were used a lot and I floated around in a tube. Back home for a meal on Super Heroes tablecloth with Spiderman serviettes. We made a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle cake for Matthew. | ![]() |
2000 | F - Sandspit where Tennent thought the $8000 network quote was for whole works - I looked at it and told him it was just the cabling!
2004 | Updated Bells antivirus for 3 avocados (selling for $1.89 each).
2008 | After many calls to tiler I called his wife and asked her to nag him into calling. 15 minutes later he calls and says he'll start on Wednesday.
2022 | F - David put together a gaming computer for Ne. We taught him Colessium, Tuscany and Kingdomino. After hamburgers we played WingSpan. Ne left and we had the British Grand Prix. Both of Gail's cars went spinoff free and she was one turn ahead of everyone. One of her car was double blocked in the pits. Somehow David and I managed to get into the lead in the final lap. And after 4 laps and going into the home stretch all six cars were together, giving ties for 1st-2nd, 3rd-4th and 5th-6th. (see photo). David and I played a few games of Azul. | ![]() |
