1970 David and I went to Lawaki school to explain "new math" to the teachers. Turned out that they don't understand any math. Some of my 4B boys know more. So I spent time with Toga, Numai and Suli's wife, Tuvou, explaining sets, the theory of discovery learning. The school, itself, was as I expected. 200 students in one small room partitioned into 3 rooms by blackboards. It is a committe run school meaning there is very little money. They have six maths books for 35 students and no answer book for the teacher. We had tea and cake and left knowing that we'd never be able to help them.

1972 Suva with Whites. Walked to the Phoenix (ran into Fiu on way) where we saw "Fantasia" with Ian and Susi. Ate at the Garrick. Back at QVS we got up a game of bridge. Photo and story of our wedding cake made the national newspaper (Fiji Times).
1975 86°F at 8AM, then up to 102°F (KDMA). Livestock warning, turkeys being hosed down by fire department. Great softball game - I played second and went 3 for 4, 3 RBIs and I scored 2 runs in our 8 - 4 win.
1980 T - Left Madison and hit a toll road. Gail threw the 30¢ so hard that it bounced out. Got off that and took highway 47 around Chicago. Lunch (roasted hotdogs) in a barren park in a barren Dwight, Illinois. Turned east and headed for Indiana. Straight road through nothing but corn. Drove until 6PM and checked into the Shamrock Inn in Nappanee, IN. After supper we walked to a Dairy Queen for dessert. Ice and pop at Super Valu. Saw Amish in horse and buggy.
1995 Exchanged Gail's faulty camera for a new one. Went to Whites where we were joined by the Varmas (Anil and Rahini). Gave Billy the periscope and Jackie her gifts. Played "Tell Me", a Scattergories-type game we gave Jackie. After supper, with a very good '94 Montana chardonnay, we played more games.

1997 T - Day 22 of our 3 month journey around the world. See 1997 Trip Photo Journal.
2001 Card for Jackie. Got skunked. White's over for Jackie's party (we gave a couple fish 'n coral items) - played Taboo, oldies lost to younguns.
2004 Clark's where I discussed further options for PDCA computers, packed up their old computer to bring home and had supper with Mike, who is now a 'Legend' after drinking the younger guys under the table at a conference. We watched "Fight For Life" while downing an excellent '01 Cabernet Petite Verdot from Ashwood Grove.
2006 Gail, Ne and I went to Whites for Jackie's family "party". Met Brad's parents, Bill and Jane from Katikati and Jackie's friend MaryAnn. Doug, Mel and Josh over from Melbourne. Tracy and mini-Whites also there. Played Buzz Grand Final and I won on the final question, when the others each got it wrong.

2011 F - Saw Tuckey who says that the bone scan shows an area on my right knee which probably arthritis and on left breastbone (so we'll get that X-Rayed). MRI indicated that maybe the nerves outside the prostate are hit so they will come out too.
2020 W - 70 minute walk (found $1 - $9.60).
2022 F - Left at 3:35PM and ran into the new way to get to highway 29. Russell and I get to the stadium only to find road closed so we had to go all away around. Still made it with plenty of time to spare. Didn't expect Warriors to beat Melbourne (been six years). Despite getting beat up (spear tackle, cracked jaw and an eye poke) it was close for most of the game. Kosi scored the only 3 goals for Warriors as they lost 24 - 12. Then there is a big problem getting out of the parking lot. That was a good thing because I discovered that I had lost my phone. Mad dash back into the stadium and found it under my seat. Got home at 1:35AM.
2024 M - Hospital for a short visit with a perky Gail. Oxygen cut back to half. She got an inflatible cushion for her bed sore butt.
