1961	High = 72°F. Listened to the Twins 6 - Chisox 4 (Becquer got a pinch hit grand slam in 9th). Killebrew hit the 1st in the park home run at the Met in the second game. Sandy came with us to Keller Drugstore on Lake Street for supper and then Powderhorn Park for the fireworks.
1962	W - Babe Ruth - beat Ewald 14 - 10. Played at Jr High East in a rain storm. Lyle started at pitcher and gave up 10 runs in the first. This was the 13th game and I had been the regular shortstop (was the star pitcher the previous two years). I must have impressed the coach yesterday when I relieved in the last inning and struck out 2. Lyle was pulled with one out in the 2nd and I was sent in. I threw no-hit, no-run ball; striking out 6.
1964	Went to Spring Lake with Daniels and I tried to waterski. "Tried" - because Mr D. told me to keep my legs stiff until I was lifted up. However, he ended up dragging me underwater halfways around the lake until Marge made him stop. No one had told me to let go if I didn't get pulled up early in the piece. [ed. - needless to say, I NEVER tried that again]. Went to a drive-in movie and watched the fireworks after.
1966	I worked until 7PM then I picked Kincy up at Spring Lake. We got Steve and went to Lucky Twin to watch The Chase starring Marlon Brando and The Collector. Drove around shooting off firecrackers until 3AM. Went to the Holiday Inn to get Coke®s. Kincy came home with me and we got in just as mom was leaving [ed. - she was the opening waitress and had to be at work at 5AM] and scared her.
1967	Tried to drive the car in to the cabin area, but got it stuck in all the weeds growing on the road. Unloaded our stuff and organized the cabin. Fireworks from the dock on North Star Lake. see photos.
1970	When I finally finished getting the boys into bed at 10:30PM Murray and I had popcorn and Coke®. A first for Murray, as New Zealand doesn't have popcorn.
1972	Suva with Murphy. Got the wedding license, film, flowers ordered, seeds, ties, material for curtains, stuff for barbeque, tapes and tourist spoons. Spent $80 (my monthly pay). Had lunch with Murphys and Mitchells. Rams dropped in for a visit.
1975	Don and I carried a fridge over from his place. He lent us two sleeping bags, a life preserver and his Coleman light. Left at noon and drove to North Star Lake to camp with Newstroms, including Betty and Mark Birkeland who had their camper. Ron Newstrom was there with about 10 friends. We stayed in a mobile home. Steve and I set off bottle rockets and firecrackers.
1976	Simon brought us to their place to celebrate the kids' birthdays. Watched Telethon reach $130,000.
1980	F - Went to Angi's and gave her sunflower seeds and Earl Grey tea for her birthday. Had a picnic at Cedar Lake. Played frisbee. Saw two albino squirrels, a muskrat, a beaver and chipmunks. Back to Angi's for a drink. Walked to Lake Calhoun and sat on the beach to watch the fireworks which went on for 15 minutes. Saw two other displays from there. Met Jim's parents back at the apartment.
1981	Sa - At 8PM we went to Tanner's Lake for 30 minutes of tennis until dark. Back home we watched fireworks from Ne's window. Down to pond to light our sparklers.
1982	Su - High = 96°F. Sections of freeway buckling in the heat. Stroms over at 8:30PM. Played croquette and jarts. Then we went to Crestview with them for fireworks. We were counting Eric's "oohs" and "aahs". Finale was on the ground and grass caught fire. Back to our place for ice cream and baba cake. Kids lit their snakes, glowworms and sparklers. Flashlight tag until midnight.
1983	M - Typed page 1 of So Dakota trip. We set off firecrackers and watched Crestview's fireworks from our yard.
1984	W - Went to see pitiful fireworks display at Crestview with Schwitters. Lit off our own stuff at home.
1988	OZ trip: Last day in Adelaide. Go to Trip Report
1992	Clarks arrived in red, white and blue. Margaritas, curry meal with a zinfandel, wedding photos and Formula 1 (Sandy won) with an excellent Seaview cab sav.
1994	M - Whites where Cluedo jigsaw puzzle kept us busy until cards. Fish 'n chips for supper. Ne came out on the bus from Tech ($3.90) and she brought along the 10 Georgie Pies that we had forgot to bring. We had the French Grand Prix. I was in the lead until I spun off and was blocked. Bridge with some good hands and excitement.
1995	Waiuku. Gail, Ian and I walked Campbell Road by two churches on Awhitu road. After supper we played the French Grand Prix. Couple games of bridge.
2010	Su - Went to games with my homies and we had the start-of-row park spot for the first time. Juniors won 40 - 6 over the Eels. Grace Ignasio sang a couple songs and I thought she sounded as good as any super star. Steady rain, but few errors due to it. The Warriors trounced the big Eels 35 - 6 with Ropati at fullback.
2011	M - Ian (back from Italy and Scotland) and Susi over for bridge with a Wyndham '08 pinot that was very good and a Cavallina '07 Nero D'Avola-Syrah that was knock your socks off excellent. News, via Kisore, that Woody had cancerous prostate and bladder removed.
2017	T - Peter is up here doing the byrtle rust inspections in Te Puke. He spent the evening with us. Best story was being bitten by a doberman in the face - hence the beard. We had an excellent Montana '16 Merlot with a light meal follwed by affagotos. His first taste of Tiktoki Liqueur. Showed us the interactive map of infected trees found to date. And of course many personal photos.
2019	Th - Coral and Pete and Bev over to meet Bill and Kate from 104 who lived on a yacht for 6 years.
2023	T - Bayfair - school holidays and no parking. 34OC to try out the problematic remote only to have garage door opener cease to operate. AFL: Port 110 - Cats 72.
