1969 | Farewell party for Steve (Navy bound) at Newstrom's. Nick, his uncles Frank and Phil, aunt Alice. cousin Denny (and Kathy) and his grandmother. Played 500 with Frank and Kathy. | |

1971 | PWD doing our house - they are putting in new window screens and new door latches, even though the old ones are fine. Students removed the clanger from every school bell. | |
1975 | Lunch at McGhies, then they brought us to Massey for a day of pool on Mate's regulation size pool table (gigantic). His brother, Martin, and Anne's sister, Barb played a few games. While we had supper a thunderstorm raged. | McGhies |
1976 | Write up in Courier about the boys winning Summer League A grade and teachers winning B-Grade. Each time Sue Baker sees me she says: "there's the man who made my daughter love maths" and explains that Margaret does her maths while eating supper. Told me that Mr Gasparich (Headmaster at Drury) saves all the sheets his daughter, Ann, brings home, so he can use them. Papakura Basketball Association AGM. Elected Vice-President and appointed Jr. Men Rep coach and statistician. | |
1978 | Th - Complained to Dr Mills about still having earaches. Tea at Sanders. | |
1980 | Su - Frank Bailey came to say goodbye. Mike and Sandy brought over a load of their stuff. Bensons came to pick up stool. Sanders came to pick up the desk and our boxes. Hamburgers at Sanders, then we had the Mukluk Special (Vin Rouge). David and I slept on the floor. |

1983 | W - 6" of snow. David and I finished papier mache mountain on train table. A policeman came at 9:30PM to say that a neighbor has complained about Gail letting Sugar do her business on the street. |

1985 | Sa - Fellow came to measure house and yard for the mortgage. Maplewood Mall where I bought a pair of cordovan penny loafers at Sears [ed. - still have them in 2022 - wore them about 5 times]. Dad's for lunch. Stayed until 6:30PM - left the kids there overnight and left Sugar permanently. Lesser's where after an hour of chat and a French Kir we went to a Japanese restaurant on University for a grand meal. I had shrimp, seaweed and pickles; Gail had chicken teriyaki and we all shared bean curd and sushi with chopsticks. Back to Tom's for a dry Spanish Codorniu '82 bubbly while watching Strange Brew. 2019 | Sa - Up at 10:45AM to find a rambunctious Kismet, bouncing all over the place. Left at Noon and got to Russell's at 2PM (sweet drive). But he was gone. His friend, Cynthia, let me in and chatted with me until R arrived. We get to the stadium only to find the main entrance blocked and a sign to go to O'Rourke entrance. We go there and are told go to the next gate...only there is no gate. So go back and talk them into letting us weave our way around all the barriers and park in our old days spot. We do the long walk only to see cars being let in the main entrance!!!!! Big police presence and we were metal searched (yesterday's CHCH tragedy). Watched the reserve team lose by 5 with Peter. I bought sausages ($9.50 each). 25th year march of old players (not done very well, which is norm). The Warriors trounced favored Bulldogs 40 - 6. Led by first gamer, Keighran, who admirably replaced Shaun Johnson. | |
2024 | Sa - 35 minute walk to Girven. Walked part of the way back with Val Nixon (93). Biked to 34OC where I did yard stuff with a game of Arkopolis inbetween. Watched Swans beat reigning champs Pies 102 - 69. Gym and pool (16). On way home I told Mike that his car lights were on. | |
