1974 | Frances arrived at 6:30PM. Gail changed from a dress to pants when Frances told us that Totara Park is a park. Alfred brought us there. The Basketball dinner and awards was held in a fancy mansion, Beaufort's and everyone (except us) were dressed up. Stood around chatting with Phillip Bell and Alfred while sipping a claret. Great meal - I sat with the Gillans and some Tigers. Afterwards talked to Mrs Hari and found out that she is our mail lady. Jack made a presentation to Alfred. When we got home we found Audrey (Frances' mother) who was called when David cried. | Alfred |
1975 | Sold sewing machine to Shelby [ed. - still uses it as of 2009]. Stayed for a coffee with her and Jack. Mom arrived at 2:30PM with a doll buggy for me to put together (for Brenda). We got locked out when we went to bring her stuff in, so I had to crawl in the through a living room window. Played bridge and looked at slides while sipping a Christian Brothers Chateau La Salle. Mom had to sleep on the floor like the rest of us.
1978 | Picked up mom at the airport in the morning. After coffee and cookies we went to a pottery show in the rain. Gail bought a couple pieces.

Up until midnight listening to their impressions of Hawaii, Calif and Disneyland (quantity and quality of food at restuarants, cleaniness everywhere and friendliness of people. |

1989 | Gail and I went to the Hyatt where we joined the Clearys, Taylors, James and Sue as guests of Dave Best and Marilyn Busfield. We were first to arrive and had blue contreau champagne drinks at Top of The Town. Orchids for the ladies. Almost broke out laughing when the main course was delivered - a waiter for each of us and the silver covers removed simultaneously. Sat between Sue and Jill. Last to leave. |
|
1993 | Sue Baker, who calls me "Young John", gave me a bottle of wine in thanks for doing her computer. Kathy stopped in for a coffee after school. Doug over for RnR Scattergories. | Sue |

2008 | Hospital at 12:30PM and snuck into Ward 11. Gail was going to have lunch before checking out, so I went to outer area to get away from flowers. When I went back in at 2PM she was on her way out. A nurse pushed her and I carried the big bag. I told her I was in the parking lot and figured maybe the rule was to go to the old entrance. When I got there I told her my car was IN THE PARKING LOT, so we went all the way back to the new main entrance. Home and struggle to get in as the ramp hadn't been delivered. After some catching up, I shot off to get her meds in - but place was too busy so I left. Chris, from AA, had gone to our car and salvaged our stuff from the boot area, but there was no glovebox to be found.
2011 | F - Russell arrived and after catching up, he and I played cribbage. After a curry meal we walked around the complex, going into backyards of "For Sale" properties. Jill not happy with the dinner today and says Henry is not much of a cook. Another game of crib and then we played Alhambra while snacking on an Indian peanut product named "Tasty". |
|
2014 | T - Sat around with Russell until 2:30PM when he left. Migraine sent me to bed and when I got Ian had arrived with choc/almonds with chai covering. Ne joined us for a pleasant Gibbston Valley 2012 Pinot Noir with the chicken meal. Played Survive and Dominion. Turned out that he believed that his sister was arriving on Thursday when it is actually Friday, so all his plans were mucked up.

Then it was the Hungarian Formula 1 race which Jazz (Gail) won and Goofy (me) second just pipping Fireball (David). Ne arrived to watch the last lap and then we played Burgundy.
