1973	Heather Thompson's in Papatoetoe with Adrienne and Alan Bell for Guy Fawkes party. Barbecue with around 30 people. Home at 11PM.	Heather
1979	Lia dropped off at 7:30PM and I spent an hour with the kids shooting off firecrackers. Sanders and Aldersons over for a meal followed by the real fireworks off our back deck - spinners, volcanoes (Vesuvius), bottle rockets, Roman candles, sparklers (Guy Fawkes Day).
1986	W - Barbecue at Lees. Kids lit off firecrackers and after coffee we lit off bottle rockets and fountains at our place. Lees gave us their birdbath ( moving to OZ).
1990	Steve Graham showed up with a Cotes du Rhone '89 Chavy. He had been in France and Germany on the Air New Zealand volleyball team. Kids put on a fireworks display for us.
1991	Collins after a chipped beef supper. Jim and I won 6 - 2 games of pass rummy.
1995	Su - Gail and I went to Whites. Walked a bit on Cameron Rd. Watched Reddick Bowe beat Evander Holyfield with Ian Hendry (highlights).
2003	We all went to mini-Whites for Kelcie's 5th birthday party. After the meal and cake Kerry Murphy (on leave from Navy) did the fireworks for us in the front yard.
2004	Picked up my spot prize from Waiuku Computer Services. Turned out to be a talking clock that we gave to Kelcie and a radio/flashlight/first aid kit. Angela twigged that I was related to Mrs Malecek and told me that her son missed out on having her last year. Whites for Kelcie's party. Matthew and Lia showed up from Oz with no warning. He had a good Tonto joke - "Injun running". The usual big spread, but also canned druka from Fiji! Our place for fireworks, cake and bonfire. Smokiest GF - with lots of bonfires.
2005	Mike and I went laptop shopping. MCC - useless clerk at Harvey Norman. Almost as bad at Noel Leeming where a sikh tried to screw us royal on an IBM R51. After a coffee Mike showed me the new Seagram offices at Botany. Went to nearby NL where Max was keen and sold us the same laptop (being sent over from MCC) for about $1000 less with a couple things thrown in free. Bought a Breville bread oven on sale for $99. The Warehouse to get gifts for Kelcie (DJ turn table and a white board). Whites over en masse in the afternoon. Met Brad, who is Jackie's dude. Wonderfully dry Stoneleigh 2004 Pinot Noir. After cake and trifle we shot off fireworks in the rain. Gifts followed by Trivial Pursuit.
2006	Gail and I went to Mini Whites for Kelcie's birthday - only Ian and Susi were there. Played basketball and gridiron with Christian until it was chow time. Buzz game after dessert. Gave Kelcie the Dyson toy vacuum.
2008	Middlemore at 5:30PM. Got through updating each other when we were invaded by Bobby, Trina and Barb Kelly. They gave Gail a water mister and she needed it as her fan had been taken away. Also magic stuff for her scars. Fun time while they were with us. Gail showed off by eating her supper by herself. I was kicked out at 8PM.
2017	Su - Only an hour of sleep. Baby howling non-stop for an hour beginning at 5:30AM. Got a tramadol at 7AM from Sasha but pain increased to full strength so Lana gave me three doses of morphine all at once at 8AM. And that did the trick. Finally no pain. Then she moved me to observation room where I struck up a Hindi conversation with Robyn. Aaron rolled me to have a CT which showed two kidney stones. Pain is from one in tube between kidney and bladder. The larger one can be expected to make itself known any day now. So registar Mike sent me home with a script for all the meds I had been getting. Released at noon. The pain returned around 6PM (morphine finished) so I was onto Tramadol and Orex. At 11:30PM I began to shake uncontrollably (teeth chattered) so I dashed into bed.
