1964 |
Stayed over night at farm (Grandma's funeral yesterday). Angela gave me a dollar. |
1966 |
Picked up the canopies from Gary C. Home to get Steve up and we decorated up the basement. Lumber arrived at 4:30PM and we immediately built the bar. Bought Kincy's presents and picked up Terri, Judy and Signe and Mulville. Steve picked up the Roosevelt crowd and Kincy. Was to be a surprize birthday party for Kincy but as I driving home
Kincy in Steve's car pulled along side on 66th Street and the girls tried to hide below window level. Steve then picked up Debbie and Greg O. We got started around 10:30PM. Gary C stopped in with Beverly. Broke up around 1AM - I brought the Richfield gang home.

1975 |
Played tennis while clothes were washing (at laundromat). Painted Klyberg's house for a couple hours. Shelby over to say that Gail had been offered Head Start job. Caulked kitchen windows and home to watch Hee Haw. It is David's favorite show and he makes me and Gail get up to dance to the theme song. |
1976 |
Handicap Round game. We only had 5 against Merkins. With 30 seconds to go we needed a basket to win. I was having a good night, so I was actually smiling as I brought the ball up into our half.
Since I was so far out no one was really marking me, so I let it fly [ed. - today it would be a 3 pointer]. Swish, end of game and we won 54 - 37. I ended up with 14 points. |
1980 |
T - First time to Eloise Butler Wildflower and Bird Sanctuary in the middle of Theodore Wirth Park. Fabulous piece of land set aside to stand in in's natural state. Along the way
there are markers telling about the plants. It was a sweltering day, but inside the park the temperature dropped 15 degrees. Signs ask you to not make noises, and the place is so quiet. Animals come right up to you. Found a building in the middle which had displays. Found a mineral spring (same water is being bottled by Knollwood and sold for 79¢/gal). Line of people with cans and bottles. |
1983 |
F - Dropped Sugar off at Mom's and drove to Wadena. Stayed at the Brookside Motel ($37). There really is a brook behind the place. Supper at Hardees. |
|
1984 |
Dad's for a barbecue lunch then putt-putt in Blaine photo 1. Lavonne got 4 hole-in-ones photo 2 and won.
Gail wore the sun dress photo 3 I chose for her. Back to Dad's for watermelon. Lavonne gave us flowers with granny-faces. |
1996 |
M - Saw Harris about chest pain. Had an ECG and blood tests and my heart is clear. Pains are probably reflux again. Here are the pills that I take these days:
Morning - Zantac (stomache), Prozac (CFS), Aspirin (headache), Sudafed (sinuses). Lunch and supper - Buscopan (IBS). Evening - Zantac, Amytrip (CFS). Mondays - Paramax (migraine). |
1997 |
T - Day 36 of our 3 month journey around the world. See 1997 Trip Photo Journal. |
1999 |
Th - Heavy rain and Stoney Creek has flooded the neighbors below us. |
|
2001 |
Berthe over for an excellent '99 Sacred Hill Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon. We gave her a lazy susan to use with Upwords. Russell, Ann and Chris joined us for a lovely chicken paprika dinner, then it was off to Pukekohe for ten-pin. First time for Chris (47, 58) and Berthe (60,109).
Russell had high game at 149 (has a nice hook with good action). Back home for cake. |

2002 |
Went for a walk with dad to get quarters for our bus trip tomorrow. When we got back Howard had arrived with KFC for lunch. Corn cob on a stick brought back memories of Yukiko eating her's one kernel at a time. Joined Howard and Lavonne for a drive down memory
lane past houses in Coon Rapids and Anoka where they had lived and then to Lake George, where they would take carloads of kids in the summer - now its a State Park and costs to get in. |
2006 |
Warriors game. Pre-teen hula girls in the pouring rain. Western Union night - they gave out thunder sticks and gave away a trip to Grand Final (at half-time a helicopter delivered the winner's name).
Game was great played with much passion and a surprizing 26-0 win for the local boys. Before leaving for the game I hid a doorbell in their living room. When we got back I pretended I was leaving.
Once they were in I snuck back and began ringing the doorbell. It had them searching for where this strange noise was coming. Finally, I knocked on the door and said: "Don't you answer your doorbell?". |

2010 |
Th - Louise over for supper and then went to a play with Gail and Joan. |
2016 |
F - Played Golden Ages with David, had supper and then set up Mombassa for the first time, had cake and ice cream then played it until midnight. |
2020 |
W - COVID back in Auckland and it is shutdown. Rest of us have moved to level 2, so I had to wear a mask to the doctor's. |
2021 |
Th - Walked to Farm St to get a B12. While I was out Gail scorched a fry pan, which set off the alarm and a OSV worker came to check (hardwired to the ER office). |
2022 |
F - Warriors with Russell. Had the best fish ever at the stadium (with chips = $14.50 / 25¢ for ketchup). A helicopter buzzed the stadium and was supposed to be a big deal. What was a big deal was the Warriors romping over the Bulldogs 42 - 18. And, yes, they had a couple tries disallowed (highlights). There was a laser show at halftime (see some). After the 2 hour drive home I am 5 minutes away and the Bayfair roundabout is closed (putting a huge beam onto the new overpass) and I had to detour up to Golf Road. |
