1961 Su - High = 76°F. Typical summer day: weeded lawn, whiffleball with Kincy and Bill, gin rummy with K, Angi and Signe, bowling (148, 135, 126) with Gary, 500 with S, Terri and K, softball with K, badmitton with K and S and volleyball with S and Mary, softball workups with K and B, gin rummy with K and watched television.
1971 Tuck Shop now selling ice cream so I enjoyed a tub.
1972 We walked to Bhaghat's at 5PM. He showed us around the farm and gave us seedlings. Played "tuni" (card game) on front porch with his brothers and a few others until 8PM. Then Baghat, Gail and I sat alone at a table inside working on a bottle of gin until it became apparent that we weren't going to eat until we finished the bottle. We had to convince him that we didn't want to be rude but we couldn't drink that much. After a great chicken curry we talked to Narayan. They gave us a ride home in Singh's truck and this fellow who I had never met before knew where we lived.
1974 Dad called and talked about being a grandfather.
1980 W - Left Hansen's, drove through Magnolia, then up highway 4 stopping in Jackson, MN to check out a Ben Franklin. Got to Sleepy Eye and left David with Mary and Gary and the rest of us went to Jeanie's store. Met Eloy's aunt Ella, from Fairfax. Left Ne with Jeanie and walked around town. Brought Jeanie home at 5PM stopping to get potatoes from Herman. Got a photo of Randy working at National Tea. After supper I went with the boys to the school gym to shoot buckets. I was hitting 25-30 footers and impressed everyone. Women walked down to the lake and bought popcorn from Mary.
1988 Benson's to give Peter a US Atlas to use there when he follows the midget racing series. Gave them an Aussiegami book and we chatted. Whites to play bridge. Tui was brought over by his uncle and a couple Tongan women.
1997 W - Day 16 of our 3 month journey around the world. See 1997 Trip Photo Journal.
1999 F - Up at 6:20AM so I could pick up David - first thing he says to is: "I forgot my camera in your father's cab". Got home to find two emails - Angi and Chris each writing about the camera. David told us about his stay in Prescott. Chris sent along a can of Butternut coffee.
2020 Th - 70 minute walk between squalls. Had to hold onto my hat at times. Russell stopped in on his way to Opitiki. Gave me a Goofy-in-train toy. Watched Bulldogs dominate Bombers - English's best game.
2021 F - Reaction to Covid vaccine had me hurting all over all night. AFL: 12th place Tigers beat 4th place Lions on the back of 6 goals by Jack Riewaldt in his 300th game.
2023 Su - Up at 11:40AM after a ruined night with so much coughing. Had a CIVO Coffee which was undrinkable. Back to bed for a couple hours. AFL: Lions 116 - Eagles 35. Hawks 85 - Giants 72. Gunston had 6 goals.
2024 T - Gail was at Ne's for furniture pickup and who was one of the men? Bob Hayson - it only took 13 years to run into him while living so close to us. Brought Gail to doctor and her oxygen so low that she had to go to the hospital via ambulance. I caught up with her in emergency department. The blisters on her swollen legs are now popping and draining the stored up fluid. I stayed for a couple hours and left when she was moved in to APC. Peter came with brought pizzas. I opened a French 2021 Chateau Villefranche Bordeaux and we had pumpkin pie for dessert. Lots of good story telling (drugs being delivered to PO Box of vacant lot.) and finished off looking QVS staff photos.
