QUEEN VICTORIA SCHOOL - QVS is a boys boarding school in Fiji, originally set up for the sons of chiefs. I taught math and science there 1970-73 as a Peace Corps Volunteer. Made many lifelong friends there and it led to our moving to New Zealand who’s head of state happens to be...
QUEEN ELIZABETH - British monarch who rules Commonwealth countries such as Canada, New Zealand and Australia where we have visited the State of...
QUEENSLAND - Home of the Gold Coast which we visited in July when we stayed at Surfers Paradise and took in EXPO ’88 in Brisbane (day 1 photos - day 2 photos - day 3 photos) . Also home to the Sunshine Coast and Great Barrier Reef both of which we toured in Nov 2011 with everything inbetween.(photos)
QUILTING - We have quite a few that Gail’s grandmother made and we use them. Gail herself continues to make them on a regular basis. I wore out the first one she made for me and then by special request she made me a Goofy one.
QUAFFING - I began my wine journey with Mogen David wine that my mother gave me on my birthdays. When we arrived in NZ in 1973 the only stuff available was local fortified wine in big jugs or spritzy stuff like Cold Duck. Over the years NZ vinters have come of age and we now have world class leaders here with our Sauvignon Blancs and Pinot Noir. According to my records I have tasted over 1300 different wines (database).
QUEENSTOWN - NZ’s favorite ski resort in the Southern Alps that is popular all year round. Gail and I spent a few days there in January 2003 hiked a few trails and rode a steamboat over Lake Wakatipu (Malleygram).

When is the last time you saw a woman wearing a hat (no, baseball caps don’t count)? Aside from Queen Elizabeth, sunhats and at the Horse Racing events I don’t ever see them worn. Does anyone out there have a hat box stored in the attic or basement?
